Cervezas Cruzcampo

The history of Cruzcampo began in 1903 when the brothers Tomás and Roberto Osborne Guezala, born in Puerto de Santa María, decided to set up a brewery. Both had learned to brew beer on their travels to Germany and Benelux. The brothers opened a brewery in Seville, as this city had water with the characteristics required for the brewing process. A gazebo near the brewery called Cruz del Campo served as inspiration for the company's name. The first Cruzcampo beer was launched in December 1904. In 1991, the company was acquired by Guinness Brewing Worldwide, who brought it into the British company Diageo. In the year 2000, Heineken bought 88.2% of the shares of the Cruzcampo Group from Diageo, which led to a boom in sales and a major international expansion. In 2004 Cruzcampo was already one of the 10 best-selling beers in Europe.
