San Miguel (can)
San Miguel Especial is a Spanish Pale Lager brewed using the best natural ingredients, including hops from Bavaria and Southern Oregon. The malts used are a combination of Pilsen and roasted malt. The result is a beer golden in colour, with hints of cereal and a fruity aroma.
The history of San Miguel dates back to 1890 when the founders opened their first brewery in the district of San Miguel, Manila. The brewery took over the beer production of a small monastery of Augustinian monks who had been brewing beer since 1885. In 1957 a new factory was opened in Lleida, Spain, and San Miguel, Fábricas de Cerveza y Malta S.A. became an independent company. The increase in demand of San Miguel beer led to the opening of a new brewery in Malaga in 1966 and another one in Burgos in 1970. In 2000 San Miguel launched the first 0.0 alcohol-free beer on the market, San Miguel 0,0.
In 2005 San Miguel joined Mahou and Grupo Mahou-San Miguel was born.
